It’s only in the last few days since I left Dread Lords that I’ve realised what a good guild it really is. When I left I stated 2 reasons, the loss of a friendly atmosphere and real life issues fast approaching me (more specifically exams). If it had just been the first issue that was bothering me, I probably wouldn’t have quit. It’s only since leaving that I’ve noticed what a lonely place the game is without your friends there in guild chat.
While I’m posting this I’d like to clear up one or two other issues, the first of which is my joining of ?orky’s guild Lost Lords. When I joined I saw it as just a small guild designed to keep in touch with people, a sort of chat room for want of a better expression. After reading on a previous post that Aybabtu felt betrayed by this, along with the realisation that at my level I need a guild consisting of high-level players, I left. I hope I haven’t caused any offence by my short stint in that guild, I certainly never meant to betray or rival the Dread Lords, as I mentioned in my previous post, I want to remain friendly with the guild at all times.
The second thing that I want to do is mention the recruiting policy. I made a suggestion in the officer’s mess on ways to improve it, but in light of what others have said I now believe that my suggestions were a load of crap. The fact is that on a full server, if Dread Lords is unsure whether to accept somebody they’ll just find another guild (there’s plenty about after all) and Dread Lords will lose out. For some reason I thought that the recent recruitment and increase in size was a big issue, looking back I don’t know why I thought that , cause looking at it now I can’t see much of a problem. As for Ragtor’s recruitment (I think that was his name anyway) Ayb did indeed ask twice if he should be allowed to join, I didn’t say anything because I wasn’t aware of any potential problem with Cherry, who was offline at the time.
Something else that I want to do while typing this is say well done to Aybabtu. Obviously running a guild of considerable proportion is going to take a lot of time and responsibility, and must feel very hard when the game becomes stressful due to disagreements and complaints etc (personally I wouldn’t want to have to do this as the game should be about having fun, not sorting out others problems - so good on you mate ). I’m glad you’ve decided to stick it out with the guild though, because you’d offer a lot to any guild and there’s little doubt in my mind that you’re the right man to take the guild forwards.
So in conclusion, if anybody else is feeling disgruntled in Dread Lords, please consider what I’ve written before making a drastic decision. In my opinion Dread Lords is still a very good guild and can go on to achieve big things- and I want to remain friends with all the people I’ve gotten along with, both those in the guild and those who have now left. Perhaps sometime in the future when my exams are done I will return (providing I’m still welcome), but as I said, real life has forced me to take a break for now, insignificant of how I felt in the guild. After all, this is only a computer game, so more important things must take priority.
